Bhubaneswar: The Odia version of iconic songs of leading Bangla lyricist and singer Kabir Suman goes global. OdishaLIVE, a premier media company made global digital release of this landmark creation ‘Tomake Chai’ having Odia title ‘Anyakatha Anyageeta’. The music album was posted on web and social media on the auspicious occasion of Debasnana Purnima.
The Odia songs are rendered by noted singer Namrata Mohanty. When the original lyrics and music were created by Suman, the Odia texts have been translated by Prof. Mrinal Chatterjee. Nitya Sriranjan has handled the music arrangement of the Odia production.
The album consists of 12 love songs depicting different mood and settings which appeal to the aural senses by the honeyed singing and soulful lyrics. “Many have equated Kabir Suman with the Nobel Prize winning lyricist singer Bob Dylan due to the quality of their writings and the emotions that their songs evoke among the listeners” said Mrinal Chatterjee.
Kabir Suman is excited about the release as he was born in Cuttack and Odia was the language he spoke while growing up. Singer Namrata Mohanty, the voice behind ‘Anya Katha Anya Gita’, is overjoyed at the Global Digital Release of the album and hope that it would reach the large audience especially the youth through the power of internet and the mobile media.

The Odia audio CD was recently released at Kolkata, in the presence of Suman, at a special function marking the silver jubilee of the song ‘Tumake Chai’. The same is scheduled to be unveiled in Odisha at Kalinga Literature Festival, Bhubaneswar.
