Each facility will have the capacity to produce 1200-2000 pads each day and will have a sterilization room to ensure that the napkins are sterilised before they are packed for consumption of rural women. The CSCs are also being provided with raw material, enough to make 45,000-50,000 pads. These napkins will be priced at Rs. 40/- per pack; each pack containing 8 pads.
LPG SERVICES THROUGH CSC NETWORK
India is in the midst of a domestic clean fuel revolution. The massive growth in numbers of domestic LPG consumers from 13 crore in 2014 to 26.22 crore as on today is testament to the unprecedented effort to universalise clean cooking fuel in the country. During the first 67 years of India’s independence, only 13 crore households could be covered by LPG. Whereas, during the last 4.8 years, the coverage has doubled to about 26.22 crore. Households who are still deprived of LPG as a clean cooking fuel have to rely on firewood, coal, dung – cakes etc. as primary source of cooking. The smoke from burning such fuels causes alarming household pollution and adversely affects the health of Women & children causing several respiratory diseases/ disorders. As per a WHO report, smoke inhaled by women from unclean fuel is equivalent to burning 400 cigarettes in an hour. In addition, women and children have to go through the drudgery of collecting firewood.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to safeguard the health of women & children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel – LPG, so that they don’t have to compromise their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood. The time being saved by using LPG is helping the women of the households in utilising the spare to gain meaningful source of income leading to socio-economic empowerment.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 1st, 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.
As of now, the PMUY customer count has crossed more than 6.8 crore on All India Basis, while that of Odisha is about 40.3 lakhs. Since the launch of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in June ’2016 in Odisha, LPG customer base in rural / underdeveloped areas has seen exponential growth. In Odisha, the LPG Customer base has touched 79 lakhs as on 01.03.2019 as against 20 lakhs as on 01.06.2014. In the last 4 years OMCs have commissioned 519 LPG Distributorships across Odisha. The spread necessitates robust supply and distribution network so that our valued consumers get best services. To supplement the services through distributors, it was thought to utilize services of CSC’s network in rural areas. An All India MoU between Oil Marketing Companies & CSC-eGov was signed on 3rd of November 2018 to facilitate LPG services at CSC points. As a Pilot, the initiative was rolled out in Angul district of Odisha & East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. The initiative envisages facilitating refill booking, KYC documentation & refill delivery at designated CSC Points. In order to further augment the initiative and ensure accessibility of LPG services to our valued customers, the LPG services are now being extended to 2000 VLE points across Odisha. Under this initiative, LPG customers will have option to book a refill of any OMC at VLE point. Under this MoU, LPG related services like refill booking, KYC documentation, registration for new connection and refill deliveries will be facilitated at VLE points by OMCs.
