Synchrony Financial partners with the Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to provide potable water to more than 32,000 people

Hyderabad, December 06, 2017: Synchrony Financial (NYSE: SYF), a premier consumer financial services company with over 85 years of retail heritage, partnered with the Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to provide potable water to 16 villages by installing a new water treatment plant. This initiative is designed to help improve the quality of life for more than 32,000 people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Synchrony Financial has been doing business in Hyderabad for more than two decades and was one of the first companies to bring Contact Center operations and Analytics to India. The company believes strongly in improving the communities in which they operate, and in 2016 launched the philanthropic platform, Synchrony Families That Work. The Synchrony Families That Work platform focuses on addressing the basic needs of today’s working families: safe and stable housing for families who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness; childcare for parents who need a safe place for their children while they work; and economic security so families can move ahead. This platform has enabled Synchrony to make important contributions to Hyderabad and its people through many varied projects focused on economic security, special programs and training, community outreach and safety practices.

Synchrony Financial will help provide safe and potable water under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model which includes the active involvement of the local government and the community. The installation of the water treatment plants includes eight villages of Telangana: Ghatikal (1000 LPH), Isthalapuram (1000 LPH), Midthanapally (1000LPH), Patha Suryapet (2000 LPH), Kuppireddy Gudem (500 LPH), Ramaram (1000 LPH), Gumpula (500 LPH), Tangillagudem (1000 LPH) in Suryapet District, Telangana and eight villages of Andhra Pradesh: Minnekallu (1000 LPH), Velamuripadu (1000 LPH), Patha Maguluru (500 LPH), Sajjapuram (500 LPH), Makkenavaripalem ( 1000 LPH), Addanki Municipality (2000 LPH) in Prakasham District and Dandamudi (500 LPH), Kavuru (2000 LPH) in Guntur District.
