Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal remembers Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 94th birth anniversary said that the poet who ruled India and million hearts

Kohara, Ludhiana 25 December 2019 : National Secretary Bharatiya Janata Party Kisan Morcha and Prabhari Jammu and Kashmir Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal said that in his five-decade long political journey, Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as a Lok Sabha MP for nine terms and was member of the Rajya Sabha on two occasions. He said that Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee would have turned 94, had he been alive today. Born on this day (December 25) in 1925, in Gwalior, Vajpayee achieved heights that few did in independent India. In 1957, at the young age of 32, he became a Lok Sabha MP, representing the Balrampur constituency. This was just the beginning of his extraordinary journey in the corridors of power and politics. In his five-decade long political journey, Vajpayee served as a Lok Sabha MP for nine terms and was member of the Rajya Sabha on two occasions. He emerged as a strong Opposition voice during the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi and was jailed with the likes of Jayprakash Narayan, Lal Krishna Advani, George Fernandes and others. Grewal told that Vajpayee was the first non-Congress leader to complete a 5-year term as India’s Prime Minister. He was also the first Indian to address the United Nations in Hindi. Besides Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, Vajpayee is the only Indian leader to take the Prime Minister’s oath on three occasions. His political career aside, Vajpayee is remembered as a captivating orator and an empathetic poet of the whole World
