Satapada: During the Golden Jubilee celebration of Basudev High School, Baghamunda near here on Sunday, local leader, social worker and activist Duryodhan Pradhan was felicitated by Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Pratap Chandra Sarangi.
The Golden Jubilee Celebration was also attended by Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal, Minister of State of Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Jagannath Saraka and Electronics and Information Technology, Sports and Youth Services at Government of Odisha Tushar Kanti Behera, Lok Sabha MP from Puri Pinaki Mishra, former minister Sanjay Das Barma and advisor to World Bank Dr Ajit Kumar Patnaik.
Duryodhan Pradhan is a popular social worker and activist of the area who was also a former Sarpanch and had taken up extensive development work for the area. A co-founder of the Basudev High School, Baghamunda, he was also instrumental in setting up several other educational institutions of the region and worked with the popular philosophy of “Education for all’’. Though he, himself was not highly educated during his time, he could nurture a vision to educate the youth of his area with better education who, now-a-days, are highly placed at various parts of the country and abroad.
Apart from Mr Pradhan, many other prominent members of the school founding committee, old students and members of the past managing committees and local leaders were also felicitated on the occasion which was celebrated in a grand way.
