Puri: The holy flag Patitapaban Bana of the Jagannath Temple snapped off the shrine’s Nilachakra (metal wheel) here on Wednesday morning. However, as the other flags tied to the Nilachakra remained unaffected, the daily rituals of the deities were not changed. Devotees believed that incident could be considered as ominous because the flag snapped off on the Mahasaptami of Goddess Bimala during Durga Puja in the temple premises. It was for the second time the Patitapaban Bana snapped in a month after September 8.
