Cuttack: A tripartite agreement was signed among Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and Touchstone Foundation in the presence of Minister of State for Steel and Mines Prafulla Mallik for providing ‘Ahar’ meals in Cuttack. Mid-day meals will be provided to 4,000 people each in five cities in the State, including Cuttack, at a subsidised rate of Rs 5 per meal from April 1.
Under the agreement, lunch comprising rice and dalma will be provided at Rs 5 per person to people belonging to poorer sections of the society at Badambadi bus stand, Sishu Bhawan square, Malgodown area and SCB Medical College and Hospital. The ‘Ahar’ centres will remain open at the designated places between 11 am and 3 pm everyday.
Rs 20 will be spent on preparation of each meal of which Rs 15 will be borne by OMC from its corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds as per terms of the agreement. The OMC will provide Rs 54.60 lakh for the first three months.
The OMC will provide Rs 64 lakh as one-time payment towards cost of equipment for transportation, cooking and distribution of food, generator, wages and dresses of men to be engaged in serving food and other expenses. Besides, Rs 1.18 crore will be provided by OMC as advance.
