Report by Basant Rath, Nabarangpur: A preparatory meeting for the celebration of Nabarangpur district’s annual tribal cultural festival Mondei-2019 was held under the chairmanship of district Collector Ajit Kumar Mishra, here on Friday
at Ashok Meheta conference hall.
It was decided for the inaugural function of Mondei would kick off on 1st December from Lalitadaipur Sasana, under Nabarangpur block. The block-level Mondei would start from 2nd to 10th December, and the district-level festival would be held from December 13 to 17.The Mondei district level drama festival would start from December 2 to 7.
The district-level annual extravaganta MONDEI has gained huge response peoples from far and wide gather here to witness the rich culture and tradition of the district, keeping in view the huge gathering it was decided to sift the festival venue from Mondei ground to the Hirli stadium ground available near Eakalavya school. Similarly the Mondei drama festival venue would shift from Town hall to Mondei ground.
As many as sixteen committees constituted comprising senior officials to ensure smooth conduct of the festival. The members who participated in the meeting resolved to publish souvenir this year. As per a decision taken at the meeting priority will be given to the local artists and felicate them at the Mondei drama festival.
The festival would have cultural programmes consisting of dance, songs, sports, traditional music and recitation of poems besides a five-day Pallishree Mela.
District Council of Culture Secretary, Mohandra Kumar Sahu, presented the details for the preparation of Mondei. Among others superintendent of police Nitin Kusalkar, Addl district magistrate Nimai Chandra Sutar, PDDRDA, Rama Kant Nayak, Sub-Collector, Bhaskar Raita, CDMO Sontosh Kumar Swain, DIPRO Haladhar Nial, members of Mondei committee, district level officials present at the meeting.
