A low-pressure area has formed over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported on Friday. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height. This system is expected to move west-northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand over the next two days.
