New Delhi: The internationally celebrated Odissi artist and Guru, Smt. Ranjana Gauhar, Founder-President of Utsav, a recipient of Padmashri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee is organizing Su-tarang- A Celebration of Odissi Dance dedicated to World Dance Day, on Sunday the 29th April, 2018. The programme will begin at 6.30 p.m. at Azad Bhawan Auditorium, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, (ICCR), I.P. Estate (Near I.T.O.), New Delhi.
Utsav, a Delhi-based cultural organization, is mainly focused on preserving and promoting Indian culture through classical dance, particularly Odissi and music for over three decades. Under the tradition of guru-shishya parampara, the visionary Guru Ranjana Gauhar with her unflagging spirit nurtures her disciples to evolve as confident artists and individuals. Utsav provides the disciples with prestigious cultural platforms, year after year.
It is a matter of great pride that dignitaries, senior Gurus, artists and Rasikas of the Capital eagerly come to witness the high-quality performances by Utsav`s young dancers. We at Utsav believe in showcasing its events and festivals with excellence. Sutarang, is one such annual festival of Odissi dance.
Utsav will confer the annual “Utsav Samman 2018” to honour renowned personalities for their outstanding contribution in the field of art and culture. The recipients of the Utsav Samman this year are Smt Jamuna Krishnan (Bharatnatyam, Delhi), and Utsav Guru Samman to Smt Sangita Goswain (Odissi vocal music, Bhubaneswar, Odisha), Smt Sharon Lowen (Odissi Dance, Delhi), and Pandit Rama Chandra Sahu (Odissi Vocal, Delhi).
