Tsunami averting mock drill held in Erasama coast

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: A Tsunami averting mock drill was held in Noliasahi multi-purpose cyclone Centre under Erasama coast 30 km away from here on Saturday.
Indian National Centre for Ocean Information services [INCOIS] Hyderabad and representatives from UNESCO as well as, NDM and OSDMA resource persons combining Jagatsinghpur civil administration officials, NGO activists and locals were witnessed the event and discussed Tsunami preventive measures adhering across Globe.
The visiting INCOIS scientists and unisco members were discussed with sea side villagers with regards to their preparations over Tsunami alerts and readiness of the local cyclone shelters providing homes to villagers during calamity.
District Collector S K Mohapatra apprised visiting dignitaries that the region comes under highly sensitive calamity prone area so administration has been giving special attention during any natural disaster.
The mock drill was participated by INCOIS director Dr Satheesh C Shenoi, ministry of earth Sciences scientist Cdr P K Srivastava, NDMA advisor Dr Pavan Kumar Singh, scientist E Pattbhi Ratna Rao,B Aijaya Kumar,M V Sunanda UNESCO representatives from Australia Nicholas Kuster, from Indonesia Mrs Weniza, Ms Kian Purna Sinki, Litanya Octonovrilna and Ardito M Kodijat. OSDMA representatives Satya ranjan Sahoo, P K Nayak, Bholanath Mishra, Santanu Kumar Thakur from state office.
