Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Rourkela: A short term course on “Design and Implementation of Instrumentation Systems using LabVIEW” was organised by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha from 14th to 19th December, 2015 under the coordinatorship of Prof. Umesh Chandra Pati and in technical association with National Instruments, a leading instrumentation company of the country. The main objective of this course was to provide an opportunity for students, research scholars, faculty members and working professionals to get an exposure in the field of instrumentation engineering through discussion of necessary theoretical background and implementation through simulation as well as hardware components. Twenty participants from different parts of the country participated in this course. Director Prof. Sunil Kumar Sarangi inaugurated the programme in the presence of Prof. Kamala Kanta Mahapatra (HOD), Prof. Umesh Chandra Pati (Coordinator), Organising members (S. B. Prusty, S. Padhee, A. Singh, M. Behera, A. Pandey, B. Mishra, S. Paul ), participants, faculty members, research scholars and M.Tech. students of the department . Besides the faculties of NIT Rourkela, Prof. Amitava Chatterjee of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Prof. Alok Kanti Deb of IIT, Kharagpur, Scientist Santosh Kumar Behera of IMMT, Bhubaneswar, Er. Suraj Pawar of National Instruments, Bangalore and Er. Manimaran of VI solutions, Bangalore delivered expert lectures during the course. It was highly appreciated by the participants.
