Sources said the administration assured them that the State Government would be apprised about their demand for holding the students’ union election in the college on a next date. Puri ADM and Sub-Collector visited the agitation spot and persuaded the students on fast to call off their strike.
“The district Collector would write to the State Government in this regard appealing to take the demand of the students into consideration and hold the college poll on another date,” said the ADM.
Following poll violence in the campuse, the college authorities have cancelled the polls and have closed the college sine die. Notably, the uniform polling date of the colleges across the State is on October 14.
