Bhopal : Speaking at the Nadi Abhiyan programme in Vidisha, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that rivers are the basis of human life hence the people must also come forward to save rivers. He said that people will have to actively participate in Sadguru Shri Jaggi Vasudev’s campaign so that we can give ample water and good environment to the future generation.
CM Shri Chouhan appealed to people of Vidisha that in order to save Betwa, they too should take out a Seva yatra on the lines of Narmada Seva Yatra. Betwa should not remain only a rainy river. For this fruit-bearing saplings would be planted up to one km each on both sides of the river. Shri Chouhan said that private land holder farmers should also make their contributions. Government will provide saplings on 50 percent grant to farmers to plant in their private land and concerned farmers would also be given compensation by the state government in the first three years.
Founder of Nadi Abhiyan Sadguru Shri Jaggi Vasudev said that Madhya Pradesh government helped the most in bringing the campaign to the surface. Terming the announcement of providing grant on the saplings, he urged that maximum number of saplings should be planted and maintained. While planting fruit-bearing and medicinal saplings would fetch maximum profit to the farmers, the environment should also become better and rivers will always remain brimming with water. Sadguru appealed to connect people to the Nadi Abhiyan.
