Cuttack: Prof Srinivas Subbarao of Sri Sri University recently delivered the key note address at the NIT Rourkela National Management Conclave on “Business, Innovation and Sustainability”. He was invited to speak on Innovation for Excellence. Prof Subbarao spoke from his experience as an entrepreneur and entrepreneurship educator. He argued that there can be no invention without innovation. While defining innovation as doing things in a novel way, he argued that the world has no choice but to innovate. He advocated that the industry and entrepreneurs have to innovate or perish. He set the tone of the conclave through his inspiring message where he combined the industry trend on innovation with the spiritual aspects of innovation.
On the spiritual aspect of innovation, he quoted Sri Sri Ravi Shankar from the Spiritual Master’s classic book of Management Mantra where Sri Sri has emphasized on how intuition is important for innovation. This book has a dedicated chapter on innovation where he presents a powerful and spiritual discourse on innovation. Prof Subbarao encouraged the participants to read management mantra and own a personal copy for repeated reading and introspection.
Apart from the keynote, he chaired a session on Entrepreneurship & Innovation for Sustainable Markets and also delivered the Valedictory address. It should be noted that Prof Subbarao recently received prestigious AIMS-IRMA Outstanding Management Teacher Award in 2016 for his contribution to management education and entrepreneurship.
The two-day conclave was organised by the School of Management (SoM) at the NIT. Convened by Dr. Rajeev Kumar Panda of SoM, the conclave had leaders from industry, small business and academia. Representatives from Rourkela Steel Plant, OCL Iron & Steel Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Rourkela Chamber of Commerce, Utkal University, Sambalpur University and Sri Sri University actively contributed to the two-day dialogue.
