Report by Akshya Rout, Jajpur: Former Finance minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei has recently demanded before the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to speed up the much-delayed the 135 kilometer long four-laning work of Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher section of National Highway-200.
In 2014, Gadkari had announced to build the four lane highway within three years. But the work is yet to be started as a result many people are facing hardship due to the poor condition of the road. Accidents are a regular affair on this road, said Ghadei.
Widening of the highway is the need of the hour , If the union government will not start the work within a month , then large numbers of locals will block the road for an indefinite period to protest against the union government , added GHadei.
The 40 year old Bramahni setu over the river Bramahani is on the verge of collapse. But, people still cross the anytime-collapsing old bridge as the authority failed to build another bridge. The lives of many people are in danger as each day they pass on the bridge . Many buses , trucks and vehicles ply on the unsafe bridge, added Ghadei.
