Odisha’s Excise Minister Declares Moratorium on New Liquor Shops Amid Policy Overhaul

Odisha’s Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced that no new liquor shops will be opened in the state. He also noted efforts to reform the existing Excise policy, highlighting challenges posed by illegal liquor sales. The interim policy, set to last seven to eight months, includes changes to address these issues. Harichandan indicated that further updates to the Excise policy are anticipated in the coming year.
