Report by Akshya Rout; Jajpur : A honey- badger locally called as Gadabhalu , which had fallen into a well on Monday night in village Salijanga under Tamaka forest range of Jajpur district , was finally rescued on Tuesday after a four -hour rescue operation.
The five year old honey -badger fell into the 35-feet-deep well, while looking for food . The animal’s plight was detected on Tuesday morning when some villagers saw it in the well and alerted forest officials, who then mounted a rescue operation, said P.K. Bhuyan the forester of Dumuka forest
The honey badger is a protected animal under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 , added the forest officer.
