Dubai: Weather was at its best on Friday the 2nd of November at Ajman and Fujairah after observing few rainy days last week. All in all, it was a fun filled day of cricket at both Fujairah and Ajman where third round of league matches of Odisha Cup 2018 took place amidst an exciting cricket loving Odia crowd. There were five matches played on that day. It was host team Fujairah Odia Association (FOA) up against visitors and formidable opponent Kalinga Warriors(KW) team. Although, mighty FOA beat KW by 6 wickets. Himanshu from FOA was man of the match for the second time in the tournament for his 40 runs. In the match between Kalinga Bira vs. Utkal Rising Stars(URS), KB beat URS comfortably and by a huge margin of 45 runs with the help of Dilip’s blistering knock of 69 runs and Biranchi’s 59 runs. Dilip was the unanimous choice for the man of the match in that match. Same day KB played two matches, in the match against Jagannath Seva Sangh(JSS) as well KB registered a comfortable win beating JSS by 7 wickets. Dibya was named man of the match for his 32 runs. On the other hand, Odia Samaj Abudhabi(OSA) beat Odisha Cricket Club(OCC) by 2 runs. Sadanand from OCC was adjudged the man of the match for his gutsy 48 runs although he could not win the match for OCC team. Odisha Blaster(OB) in their second league match of this year’s Odisha Cup beat Utkal Challengers by 3 wickets. It was almost dawn and dusted for the defending champion OB as a strong UC batting line up smashed 122 runs in their allotted 15 overs against the defending champions OB. Man of the match Bighneswar came to the rescue of OB as he smashed 58 runs and single handedly won the match for OB.
At the end it was the players who kept the Odia brotherhood intact and won the hearts of Odia community of UAE by displaying exemplary cricket ably organized by Odisha Cup Cricket Organizing committee of UAE. Several Prabashi Odia luminaries of UAE were present to witness the cricketing extravaganza whose encouragement catapulted the performance of all the participant teams.
The next round of league matches will take place again both at Fujairah and Ajman cricket stadium on the coming Friday i.e. the 9th of November.
