Baripada: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurates Raghunath Murmu Medical College & Hospital in Baripada.
A total of 100 students – 67 male and 33 female – have already taken admission in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course for 2017-18, the first academic session of this institution at the headquarters of Mayurbhanj district.
The medical college is expected to play a big role in providing quality health services to the people of north Odisha and neighbouring states of Jharkhand and West Bengal. It should be noted that CM Naveen Patnaik had on September 4 inaugurated Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College & Hospital in Koraput.
With the two new Medical Colleges in Mayurbhanj and Koraput districts , the number of government run medical colleges has gone up to five in the state. This college is completed in a record time with an estimated cost of Rs. 226.40 crore including Rs. 50 crore for equipments.
