Lanjigarh: Vedanta’s Lanjigarh alumina refinery kick-started National Safety Week celebrations with a Safety March in the plant premises. Emphasising on safety and Zero Harm, over 1000 employees and associate partners were present during the safety rally. The inaugural ceremony began with flag hoisting by the plant’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Rakesh Mohan in the presence of Vedanta officials and senior management. The employees and business partners also took a safety pledge, emphasising on maintaining a safe culture in the workplace.
Mr. Rakesh Mohan, Chief Operating Officer – Vedanta Lanjigarh further reiterates on Vedanta’s safety practices: “Ensuring the highest measures of safety at the workplace is an integral part of Vedanta’s ‘Zero Harm’ policy. Our motto of achieving Zero Harm is the driving force that sees us uphold the highest safety standards. Vedanta believes safety is the foremost pillar and our operations are aligned with our core sustainable aspects, fostered by a culture of care for all our stakeholders. Our safety standards have been maximized by introducing and implementing several robust tools and initiatives.”
Under the theme of ‘Enhanced Safety and Health Performance by use of Advanced Technology’, Vedanta Lanjigarh will be observing week-long awareness sessions and workshops competitions throughout the week. The idea is to propagate a work-culture steeped in safe practices and behaviour using interesting methods like quizzing, skits by employees and safety model exhibitions among other events.
Vedanta is contributing towards the motto of Zero Harm, Zero Waste and Zero Discharge in all its operations by improving productivity, occupational safety, health, environment, and working conditions. The alumina refinery is driving a steady enhancement in its Safety Management System with sharp focus on safety innovation and application. The plant has incorporated advanced safety initiatives and digital interventions for streamlining safety practices throughout plant operations. for raising safety consciousness and safety standards. Vedanta has also won many accolades including Greentech Safety award and Kalinga Safety Excellence award over the years. Vedanta remains committed to fostering a culture of care and making regular efforts to share knowledge on safety with the communities it operates in, its employees and associate partners.
