Bhubaneswar : To observe 49th National Safety Day which is widely celebrated in the country spearheaded by National Safety Council starting from 4th March 2020. Utkal Alumina International Limited is observing the 49th National Safety Month at its Doragoda plant site to create safety awareness amongst its all stakeholders of the unit. A mass rally was organised on 4th March 2020 followed by an inaugural ceremonyorganised at main office ground. Mr. N Nagesh, President and Unit Head UAIL inaugurated the event by flag hosting. This campaign aimed at renewing the commitment of employees and general public to perform their activities safely without meeting with accidents throughout the year. “Enhance Safety & Health Performance by use of Advanced Technologies” is the theme of the Month at Utkal.
A safety and health pledge was taken by all the members witnessed in the event. A message by Mr. Satish Pai, Managing Director, Hindalco Industries was read out during the occasion where he emphasized safety as the core of the business of HINDALCO and its commitment to achieve Zero Harm. He advised all employees to take personal responsibilities for our own conduct, protect others and monitor our surroundings for a safe work culture. He advised the location heads of the unit to implement and strengthen the Contractor Safety Management, Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) and adherence with management of change system. Going forward he appealed for no workplace fatalities and nil lost time injuries at Hindalco.
Speaking on the on the occasion Sri N Nagesh, Unit Head and President of Utkal focused on basic safety practices and encouraged everyone for its sincere adherence. He also emphasized on “No Harm” culture in the workplace of UAIL and encouraged all to enhance behavioural safety.
The month long program agenda was briefed in the occasion. Mass peptalk, Poster Competition for employees and family members, Poster competitions for employees and contractors, safety poem competition, Firefighting competition, Skit competition, PTW & LOTOTO competition, Safety extempore, open quiz competition shall be organised during the month long safety observance. Along with these, trainings on themes like electrical safety, confined space, work at height, hot work are to be organised by Utkal Safety team.
