Bhubaneswar: Good news for people from lower income groups, who want to give their dream houses a architectural touch, but do not dare for a fear of costs. The Forum of Architecture Alumni of CET, Bhubaneswar (FAACET) is going to organise an innovative “NAKSA Camp’’ Noble Affordable Knowledgeable Social Architecture CAMP- to provide on-spot architectural solutions to economically weaker section at Bhajan Mandap, Old town, near Lingaraj Temple on August 10, Saturday.
The “NAKSA Camp’’, a first of such effort by any architectural groups in Odisha is surely going to be the cynosure of this year’s event, as it justifies the theme “connect,’’ by reaching out to the needy in our society as many still feel that consulting an architect would make the cost more or even not affordable at all for people from low-income strata.
“The “NAKSA Camp’’ will also provide suggestions or guidance to people to apply for housing plan under BMC/BDA and it will be a pilot project on August 10 for people under Ekamra Assembly Constituency area. Later it would be organised on other occasions in other Assembly segments as well’’ said advisor to FAACET, well-known architect Akshay Beuria.
The first ever event of “NAKSA Camp’’ will be inaugurated by Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Public Enterprises, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda. Beuria has requested the residents of Ekamra Assembly Constituency area to come in large numbers to the camp between 11 am and 2.30 pm so that the members of FAACET also can extend their help to maximum number of people.
It can be mentioned here that FAACET (Forum of Architecture Alumni of CET), is a registered Alumni Society of the Architecture Department, CET, Bhubaneswar, formed in 2016. It has successfully conducted three alumni reunions in the past with overwhelming response from all the alumni members. Apart from the regular alumni meet, FAACET also takes up critical social issues and tries to tackle the same with inputs from experienced senior architects. The theme of this year’s meet is “CONNECT’’ and is scheduled for 9th and 10th of August-2019, Friday and Saturday respectively. It has four sessions. The first session is more of a giving back to the society, with FAACET identifying an orphanage, and giving them aid under the PRADAN program.
The first event on August 9 is called “PRADAN’ Initiative – Privilege Remiss Adolescence by distributing aid to the needy and to interact and help an orphanage in the city. FAACET has always believed in giving back to the society, and under “PRADAN’’, it commits itself to help an orphanage by providing necessary aid and benefits. Jeevan Jyoti Charitable Trust has been identified by FAACET team for PRADAN program this year. The venue will be Jeevan Jyoti Charitable Trust at MIG-48, Kalinga Vihar, Patrapada, Bhubaneswar from 5 PM onwards on Friday.
The second session is a cricket match between the junior and senior members of the alumni scheduled on the 10th of August 2019 at Sikshya O Anusandhan University (SOA) Ground between 6 am and 10 am.
