Koraput: On the auspicious occasion of 71st Independence Day a pledge taking ceremony was organized by the Central University of Orissa, Koraput in both the campuses of the University (Landiguda & Sunabeda) at Koraput on 9 August, 2017 to mark the 75th year of ‘Quit India Movement’ launched by Mahatma Gandhi against the Imperial Rule on August 9 in 1942 and 70th year of India’s Independence. Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor of the University congratulated the CUO family for organizing the ceremony in a befitting manner and taking pledge to build a New India in his message.
Prof. Bhabani Prasad Rath, OSD administered the pledge to the staff and students of the University at the permanent campus, Sunabeda while Dr. S. K. Palita, Dean-School of Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources administered the pledge at Landiguda campus. The oath taken by the CUO family pledge that together, by 2022 they will strive to build a New India, towards a Clean India, towards a Poverty free India, towards a Corruption free India, towards a Terrorism free India, towards a Communalism free India, towards a Casteism free India. The pledge taking ceremony was organized as per the direction of Ministry of Human Resource Development and the guidelines circulated by the University Grant Commission to “actualise” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “endeavour” to have a terrorism-free, caste-free, corruption-free, uncleanness-free and poverty-free society in India.
The University is also motivated the students to participate in the on-line quiz competition launched by Government of India, which is available at http://quiz.mygov.in and NarendraModi.in App from 9 August to 15 August, 2017.
The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, Public Relations Officer of the University. All students, faculty and Staff of the University were present on the occasion.
