Bhubaneswar: Heavy rains lashed parts of the State since Tuesday night due to a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal, throwing normal life of gear on Wednesday.
To make matters worse, more downpours were forecast in the next three days.
The low pressure area, formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal, is likely to intensify into a depression by Thursday night, the Regional Office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here said.
Under its impact, light to moderate rain would lash most parts of the State till Saturday while many areas may receive heavy downpour.
Heavy rains in Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada districts since Wednesday morning inundated several low-lying areas and disrupted vehicular movements.
