Bhubaneswar: Students and teachers of morning shift of DAV Public School Pokhariput celebrated Grandparents Day “Dharohar’’ as a mark of expressing their gratitude to the grandparents and as an effort to strengthen the bonding between the first and the third generation.
On this occasion many competitions like authentic “Odia pitha and tarakari ‘’, painting, “rangoli’’, musical chair, make-up your spouse etc were conducted for the grandparents. In return the grandparents presented cultural extravaganza comprising dance, drama , group song and fashion show.
Academic Supervisor Sanghamitra Satpathy extended a warm welcome to the grandparents. The chief guest of the occasion Madan Mohan Panda, Chairman of School Managing Committee, spoke about the importance of grandparents in upbringing of the children . The Principal of the School, Dr Sujata emphasised vanishing value system in our society and role of grandparents. She also added that the young parents of the kids should act like a beautiful bridge between the first and third generations so that the social bonding would flourish and become stronger as the kids always find their grandparents to gel and spend time with.
The grandparents expressed their happiness over the conduction of such programmes by the school and they said they look forward for such grand functions in future also.
