Bhubaneswar: GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) celebrated ‘Daan Ustav’ to spread message of Joy of Giving with series of activities from October 2-8. The week-long activity was initiated by GMR Varalskhmi Foundation (GMRVF), the CSR arm of GMR Group, to build the responsibility of employees and their family members of giving back to the society.
The employees were encouraged to contribute in kind—groceries, stationary, books, cloths, fruits or monetarily for the old age community and orphanage children. Pragati Ladies Club at GKEL organised a special program for children, where 50 children from Anganwadi centres of Manpur and Mangalpur villages participated. A series of competitions—dance, game and song–were organized among children and prizes were distributed to the winners. The Ladies Club members provided snacks and distributed books, colour chart and pencils to the children.
GMRVF conducted a quiz program on ‘Father of the Nation’ among the school children where 40 students from Achalkote, Mangalpur, Kamalanga and Saraswati Sisu Mandir, Mangalpur participated. Later, the students were taken to GKEL Township and the power plant.
GKEL-GMRVF employees also donated cloths, fruits and ration to the Old Age Cum Orphanage Centre at Gobindpur in Dhenkanal. Shri Ramesh R Pai, COO, GKEL, said, “We are elated to celebrate Joy of Giving to foster a sense compassion within our organisation.
