Koraput: The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India organized International Day of Yoga 2021 on 21 June 2021in collaboration with Nandanik, a theatre group at Koraput, Odisha.
The programme was held in the registered office space of Nandanik in Pujariput. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Jaladhara Swain, eminent poet and Shri Narayan Panda, eminent literary critic of Koraput. Dr Jhansi Singh, eminent academic of Koraput, delivered the opening note of the programme explaining the significance of the International Yoga Day and the importance of yoga for a healthy life. Mr Tanmay Pradhan, eminent Yoga expert demonstrated the vital asanas and explained its utility.The programme was coordinated by Shri Saumendra Swain and Smt Monideepa Gupta on behalf of Nandanik.
It was organized maintaining Covid-19 guidelines. Physical participation was limited and physically distanced as per norms. The programme was live telecasted on the social media.
The United Nations has recognized June 21 as the International Day of Yoga as per the proposal of Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
