Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched the revamped website of Odisha in presence of ministers, senior officials, captains of industry, bloggers and media.
“It has been our constant endeavour to showcase Odisha to the world. Tourism is amongst the most sustainable routes to maximising employment opportunities for our youth and ensuring shared prosperity through community participation,” said the Chief Minister.
The lucid interface includes an array of simply but stylishly arranged modules, which help catapulting the visitor’s imagination to holiday in Odisha. It has an immersive homepage with iconic imagery, an array of pre-packaged trails filtered by duration and categories, an engaging list of activities and experiences, featured events that one can attend during their stay, planning and booking tools, travel agent search, locating experiences on map, travel advisories and embedded booking engines of Ecotour Odisha, OYO Hotels and all OTDC properties.
Accounts of diverse traveller experiences in the form of blogs, vlogs and photo blogs and insights into local cuisines can also be found.
The website houses a crowd sourced portal for travel agents to update their packages and trails; for hoteliers to update their information and deals and offers; for the user to be able to bookmark favorite destinations, trails and booking information and view it on a seamless dashboard. Travel agents, hoteliers and homestay owners can now register online and get online approvals for becoming a DoT recognized agency via the Odisha Tourism Portal The website involves a pilot implementation of an e-commerce platform for Odisha’s handlooms and handicrafts by promoting State brands, Boyanika and Utkalika. This will enable users to shop for authentic souvenirs from Odisha.
Another key highlight of the website is its foray into the relatively new yet trending concept of virtual reality or VR tourism. An interactive map adorned with indigenous art forms of Odisha like Pattachitra allows the user to view multiple tourist attractions in 360 degree views and virtual tours.
