Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged for inclusion of Sun Temple in Konark, Jagannath Temple of Puri in Iconic Tourist Sites

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged for inclusion of the Sun Temple in Konark and the Jagannath Temple of Puri in the Iconic Tourist Sites of the Central Government.

In a letter to Union Minister of State, Toursim, Prahlad Singh Patel, Pradhan cited the importance of the two tourism sites in the context of Odisha’s rich cultural, artistic and religious history and sought his intervention to include them in the list of the Iconic Tourism Sites.

Notably, the Union Budget has spelt out a plan for developing 17 tourism sites across the country into world class tourist destinations and to serve as a model for other tourism sites. The Iconic Tourism Sites would enhance visitor experience which would lead to increase visits of both domestic and international tourists at these destinations.
