Bhubaneswar: The Executive M. Tech Programme in Process Engineering was inaugurated today at the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT,) Bhubaneswar campus today. Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of aluminium major – National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), greeted and motivated the first batch of Industry Executives by addressing them as the first movers in Industry-Academia engagement.
Describing the Program as first of its kind in India, Dr Chand said that the Chemical Industrial clusters spurred by ICT Bhubaneswar will help in increasing the depth of industrialization in the State. As per his analysis of Chemical industries in India, he opined that the depth of Industrialization in Odisha will come with growth of chemical Industrial parks. Setting up of premier institution like Institute of Chemical Technology in Bhubaneswar is an opportunity for such growth, he said.
On the occasion, Prof. G.D. Yadav, Vice Chancellor of ICT, gave a presentation about the entrepreneurial drive that will be built up subsequently. Besides, Prof Damaodar Acharya, former Director of IIT Kharagpur, Prof B.N. Thorat, Director ICT-IOC, Bhubaneswar, Shri Ranjan Mohapatra, Director (HR), IOC, were notably present on the occasion and addressed the gathering. The event was attended by many professionals & Industry experts, senior Govt officials, and engineering students.
