Cuttack: Students and faculty member of Biju Patnaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO) celebrated Cinema Day in Cuttack on to mark the day on which Lumiere Brothers tried their first public screening of projected motion pictures in 1895 for the masses.
Biju Patnaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO), Cuttack is celebrating World Cinema day like every year, on December 28 and 29 on its campus. The inaugural function was held on 28th in presence of many well known personalities like Padmashree Awarded Director and Cinematographer AK Bir, veteran Odia actor Debu Bose and Odia author Devdas Chhotray.
AK BIR said to film lover “I want to congratulate everyone associated with the cinema industry on this auspicious occasion. Balwant Singh, Director, Directorate of Technical Education and Training said we are looking forward to develop the infrastructure and also introduce new Direction course very soon here at BPFTIO,”
This year films and documentaries by A.K Bir are being screened and the students of the institute are getting an opportunity to interact with the Eminent director and Cinematographer
On Second day started with the screening of film “Labanya preeti” and end with “Baaja” followed by AK Bir interact with the students an film lover said “I like to congratulate each and everyone connected on the occasion of celebrating World Cinema. Very good to see and interact with young minds trying to get into this industry.”
Many notable alumni of the institution were equally excited to come back to their institution once again and get a chance to share their knowledge and experience with the students.
“I feel proud to have graduated from this institution and very happy to be here once again and meet one of the stalwarts of our field, AK Bir,” said National Award winner Shibu Prusty.
Senior faculty of BPFTIO Mr.Sudarsan Prasad Nayak said Since last 18 years, the institute has been celebrating World Cinema Day on December 28 to create awareness about the importance of the day and encourage film aspirants to make good cinema. The Cinema Day is a source of inspiration to the budding film makers.
BPFTIO is the only institute in India which celebrate cinema day on Dec 28 every year. The festival also gave students a chance to interact with famous film makers.
Notably, the Lumiere Brothers had screened film first time on December 28, 1895 at the Salon Indien du Grand Café in Paris.
This two-day event on World Cinema Day will conclude on Friday.
