Report by Malaya Mohapatra; Keonjhar: Normally parents host birthday parties for their children but noted lyricist and journalist Subrat Swain preferred to host a blood donation camp to mark his son Arpit’s birthday. Receiving his invitation to attend the blood donation on eve of his son’s birthday many friends and well wishers reached the venue to participate in the program and bless the boy. 32 Units of blood was donated by friends. The parents also donated blood and the keonjhar blood bank staff along with members of red cross society extended their support for organizing the camp. We realize the importance and need of blood donation and want to make my friends and relatives aware about this. We want to make my son’s birthday special by donating blood on this special day, said Subrat Swain. The blood donation began with cake cutting and ended with snacks served to all invitees. Many have appreciated the noble initiative taken by subrat.
