Mumbai: After almost 10 years of weathering arguably one of the most speculated criminal cases in modern India, and incarceration of 4 years before the Allahabad High Court finally acquitted them a week before Diwali, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar spoke to Hotstar in an exclusive interview, about the last decade of their lives.
The quiet suburban life of the dentist couple was thrown into utter disarray when their young teenage daughter, Aarushi, and their live-in domestic help of many years, Hemraj, were found murdered one morning in the family’s Noida flat, in 2008.
What followed was India’s most-watched investigation and trial, with the grief-stricken parents accused of both murders.
A little over 9 years, various films and books, countless conspiracy theories and lakhs of news articles later, the Talwars were acquitted on 12 October 2017. In an emotional conversation with Hotstar, the couple shares their thoughts about their time in jail, losing their only child and what life ahead may look like now, on the other side.
