Report by Akshya Rout; Jajpur: The five-day Sourik Yuva Mahotsav concluded on Sunday at Kaliapani area under Sukinda Block in Jajpur district. On concluding day, the celebrities and artists entertained the visitors.
The tribal people from different parts of Sukinda areas were participated in various programs in five-day long fest. The Sourik Yuva Mahotsav was inaugurated by, Revenue and Disaster Management Minster Sudam Marandi, Minister,
on Wednesday.
The Sourik Youth Festival began from hilltop Nagada followed by Mini-Marathon. Thousands of Sukinda people, government officials, industry and mines people, and among other were participated and enjoyed all five days of festival.
The tribal arts and crafts, cultural programmes and mini-markets have popularised the fest. Workshops and events were organized to create awareness and uplift the tribal community and empower women community.
Speaking on the success of the Sourik Fest Mr Pritiranjan Ghadai, Local MLA, said, “I feel proud and express gratitude for the success of the Sourik Fest. The Fest aimed at facilitating a common stage to demonstrate art & culture of tribal community. It encourages to youth and students and spreads message of peace and unity. This year, we have successfully organized first ever Kalinganagar and now concluded the Sourik Fest,” Mr Ghadai said
Former finance minister Mr Prafulla Ghadai participated in the event for all five days and addressed gathering. He said, “Naveen government relentlessly working to uplift tribal community. I will be working for the development of Sukinda and its people till my last breath.”
The former minister also said Sourik Yuva Mahotsav had become a bond of unit among the people in the area which is known as the chrome capital of India.
“This festival has not only been a big draw for the tribals but also youths of all other communities. The youths gather here and exchange their views and present cultural activities. In fact, it has emerged a confluence of culture,” said Mr Ghadai
Pritiranjan, in his address said he would identify all the physically
challenged persons and train them in different skills.
“It’s my mission to identify all the physically challenged persons and
provide them various kill sets so that they can be recruited in
different plants and mines here,” said the lawmaker.
The mines and industries, district administration and local people
supported and coordinated the five-day Sourik Fest. The meeting
