Bhubaneswar: Xavier University, Bhubaneswar has planned to launch its first edition of ‘XUB Green Marathon’ organized by Sports Committee of XUB to promote and raise awareness regarding sustainability, and meet XUB’s vision to address sustainability issues and encourage green practices. This Green marathon would mark the beginning of Xamboree’19, the flagship event of XUB, which is stated to be the biggest Cultural – Management fest of Eastern India.
Spread across 3 days, from 27th-29th September 2019, it will be a mixture of people and organizations of varied backgrounds coming together for music, art, theatre, literature and company activities, and will test their intellectual, oratory, artistic, creative and company abilities. Being one of the premier institutes in the country, it is their prime responsibility to care for the environment, society, and the XUB family. The Sports Committee of XUB believes in sustainability being a lifestyle that each individual must adapt. “22nd September, 2019, would witness a footfall of around 300 participants at Infocity square”.
The marathon will begin at 6:00 a.m. and will see the participants run for 6 kilometers till Janta Maidan, Bhubaneswar. All the runners would be provided with saplings, to be sown at three junctions to promote a clean and green future. This marathon’s main goal is to raise the consciousness of the severe imbalance in nature and human life.
