Konark: The Open-Air-Auditorium with the famous Sun Temple at the backdrop witnessed the inimitable dance recitals by artists in Odissi and Mohiniyattam on the 3rd day of Konark Festival 2019. Swapnarani Sinha of Guru Deba Prasad Das Gharana in Odissi and her disciples came up with ‘Agni Stutee’ dedicated to Agni Dev the fire God, who is the Priest of Gods. The other Choreography Trivenee neatly delineated the confluence of three sacred rivers- Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. With the musical composition of Pt. Ramahari Das and choreographic touch of Swapnarani Sinha, the dancing damsels of Nrutya Nilaya presented the Dance Drama upholding the sanctity, purity and holiness of Indian rivers.
Odissi was followed by Mohiniyattam presenting Soul-stirring choreographies of Jayaprabha Menon. The artistes from Delhi came up with Sri Jayadev’s Asthapadi “Chandana Charchita” from Sri Geeta Govindam. The recital Tatvam’ followed the Asthapadi celebrating the joy of life. The concluding item was ‘Sapthajeeva’ the culminating presentation in the tradition of Mohiniyattam.
The evening’s programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Principal A.G., Odisha Yashodhara Ray Choudury and Director Tourism Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Secretary Sangeeta Natak Academy Dr. Bijaya Kumar Jena and Chief Executive Odissi Research Centre Dr. Sangita Gosain.
Dr. Sadhana Sribastav and Dr. Mrutyunjaya Rath compered the evening show with the assistance of Utpal Pati, Dr. Ratikant Pattnaik, Bijaya Kumar Jena and Saroj Kumar Pradhan. and Susant Panigrahi & Bishnu Prasad Singh were Media coordinator in the programme.
