Bhubaneswar: Flood due to heavy rain affected livelihood in several places in South Odisha especially Gajapati, Ganjam area. Odisha had been experiencing torrential rains for the last three days since 20th July 2018 causing flood like situation in the state. Places like Aska, Sorada, Paralakhemundi, have been badly affected.
In view of this unprecedented situation, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has instructed Oil companies in Odisha to ensure uninterrupted supplies of essential commodities like LPG, Kerosene, Diesel and Petrol in the affected areas.
Accordingly all the Oil Companies (IOCL, BPCL & HPCL) & GAIL called an urgent meeting to deliberate on the situation. It was decided that supply line of all essential fuels will be monitored by concerned officers, which includes its smooth positioning at all affected areas. Officers from Oil Industry have been asked to remain alert and take pre-emptive measures to ensure availability of these essential fuels and its positioning so that there are no shortages experienced by the people of the State as told by Sri Dharmendra Behura, DGM( LPG- HPCL) today in the media.
Officials from IOCL, BPCL, HPCL and GAIL are also engaged in distributing relief materials to needy people in the affected area like Ganjam and Gajapati districts from today. Similar arrangements have also been made from Oil Companies for distributing relief materials for other area also.
