Paradip: Union Minister of State for Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya made his first official visit to the Paradip Port as part of a regular review on Thursday.
He was extended a warm welcome by Paradip Port Trust (PPT) Chairman Rinkesh Roy and HoDs at the Jawahar Guest House. He was given a Guard of Honour by the CISF, PPT contingent at the guesthouse.
Thereafter, Mandaviya visited the port and saw the operations in the dock area. He also inaugurated the PPT’s New Kalyan Mandap. He too participated in plantation drive and distributed eco-friendly cotton bags to the public from nearby localities.
The Minister also participated in a cycle rally organised by the PPT to spread the message of “Swachhta hi Sewa” and “Fit India”. He said he always goes to Parliament cycling all the way from his official residence when the House is in session.
Mandaviya had an interactive session with port users and other stakeholders and emphasised on augmenting the coastal shipping.
He also reviewed the progress with officials of IDCO and IOCL on the Paradip Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR).
During the review, he stressed on a collaborative approach for faster development to bring an overall development of the area.
The Minister also reviewed the functioning of the port. A detailed presentation was made by the PPT Chairman. He hoped a bright future for the PPT.
