New Delhi: The Sivananda Centenary Boys’ High School situated in the foothills of Khandagiri Hill was established in the year 1984 to commemorate the sacred memory of Swami Sivananda Saraswati Maharaj, the Founder of the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh on the eve of the Birth Centenary .The School has got the choicest blessing of Swami Chidananda Saraswati Maharaj, the then president of the Divine Life Society, Rishikesh. The School started with a few asbestos buildings for class rooms and hostels. But it can now boost to be a school having the architecturally beautiful class rooms, hostels, prayer hall, kitchen and Dining hall with all ultra modern facility which had a vast Library, Computer Lab and Science Lab. Recently computerised teaching and learning system is being introduced.
The purpose of establishing this school is the integrated development of body, mind and soul of the students to become noble citizens of Mother India. Prayer, Yogasana, Pranayama, Spiritual discourses by eminent saints are part of the daily routine. Special classes for spiritualisation of students are held regularly .In short stress is given for excellence in studies by efficient trained teachers and character building. The school started with Odia medium but has switched over to English medium under CBSE curriculum in the year 2017-18.The school proposes to open Senior Secondary classes for which class rooms and hostels buildings are required .The Foundation stone of these buildings have been laid by Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Govt. of India & Minister Sri Ashok Chandra Panda, Govt. of Odisha. ONGC has sanctioned required fund from their CSR scheme for this purpose.
