Jilling: Essel Mining and Industries Limited (EMIL) is observing the Swachchata Pakhwada or Swachhata Pakshya (Cleanliness Fortnight) at its Jilling Langalata iron ore mines under Joda mining circle in Odisha. Swachchata Pakshya is being celebrated from May 1 to 15 as per a direction of the Union ministry of labour and employment. The event was launched on May 1 at EMIL’s Koida iron ore mines.
Joda Block Development Officer (BDO) Arun Kumar Mallick launched the programme by hoisting the Swachhata flag. The participants were exhorted to wholeheartedly work for achieving total cleanliness and encourage their neighbours to keep their surrounding clean. EMIL manager (Safety) Pramod Kumar Mishra focussed on various safety measures undertaken by the company.
Head of geology department Khageswar Mahanta dwelt upon the importance cleanliness in leading healthy life.
EMIL human resources department head Ashok Kumar Pati highlighted how good health, safety and cleanliness were interlinked. Jilling iron ore mines manager Ajit Kumar Patra called upon the participants and dignitaries to adopt cleanliness as a tradition. More than 300 employees, workers and other associates participated in the launching ceremony of the Swacchata Pakshya.
