Puri: Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra in Shreemandir today. Expecting a large number of devotees to throng the Shreemandir here to witness the Snana Yatra, the district administration has made adequate security arrangements for smooth conduct of the ritual on Monday.
On the Snana Purnima Day, the deities take holy showers and then they give darshan to devotees in Gaja Besha or Hati Besha (elephant attire) on the Snana Bedi (bathing platform) situated near Anand Bazaar in the temple premises.
Police officers in various ranks have been deployed at and around the 12th Century shrine for the Deba Snana Purnima. “Three Commandants, nine ASPs or Deputy Commandants, 37 Inspectors, 16 DSPs, 225 officers, 42 platoons of police and 550 Home Guards have been deployed for Snana Yatra,” said IG Central Range Soumendra Priyadarshi. Besides, traffic constables have been deployed at various places for mobilising the traffic in the city, he said.
Like earlier years, barricades will be installed for hassle-free Pahandi rituals of the deities. CCTVs, which were damaged in Cyclone Fani, have already been reinstalled.
