Sundargarh: The district administration of Sundargarh, under its skill development program, supports migrants and youth of the district to join courses in hotel management. In the first phase, 17 candidates have enrolled in various courses at the State Institute of Hotel Management in Balangir, a government of Odisha run premier institution. All fees including admission, courses and hostel charges will be paid from the District Mineral Foundation, DMF Sundargarh funds.
The program was recently announced by the district administration to provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth and returnees of the district. The administration signed an MoU on October 7 with the said institution in this regard.
The State Institute of Hotel Management offers degree, diploma and certificate courses. In the first phase, 4 students have enrolled in the degree, 11 in the diploma and 2 in the certificate course. All expenses related to their enrolment and training will be borne by the administration. Moreover, an additional Rs 5,000 per annum will be given to each candidate.
Enrolment to the degree course has been over for this academic year, while the deadline for admission to diploma and certificate courses is kept as November 30. Therefore, interested candidates who have passed Plus 2 may apply for Diploma and Matriculation passed may apply for Certificate Courses.

The age limit for the general category for both diploma and certificate courses is 25, while for candidates for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes it is fixed as 28.
