Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films’ ‘Rogan Josh’ awarded Best Short Film at 64th Filmfare Awards 2019

Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films’ ‘Rogan Josh’has been awarded Best Short Film (Fiction) at 64th Filmfare Awards 2019. Starring Naseeruddin Shah as the protagonist, the perfect short film is around an experience of a nightmarish night on 26/11, shared by the lead at a birthday dinner with friends and family. The powerful film is dedicated to those who lost their loved ones during the 26/11 terror attacks.
The short film industry has been growing drastically and short films have made a huge impact. After two successful editions, this is the third time that renowned members of the film fraternity such as Karan Johar, Kabir Khan, Vidya Balan, Ravi Udayawar, Urmila Matondkar, Nikhil Advani and NiranjanIyengar have selected winners in five different categories.

Talented & veteran actor, Mr. Naseeruddin Shah, complimenting his young director said, “It’s always good to see young talent being appreciated. Sanjeev is a representative of this present generation of film makers who are far more accomplished in their craft than the previous (my) generation and really want to make the films they feel need to be made. I’m also glad Endemol Shine India is supporting new talent and new formats. Rogan Josh is the story of a celebrated chef at The Taj Hotelin Mumbai who has invited his family and friends home for dinner to celebrate his birthday. The dinner table conversation meanders to the shared experience of 26/11 terror attacks. As the story progressed, they joke of how much worse the night could have gotten and question the quality of their existence, especially after the life changing event.

This category was introduced by Filmfare three years back and this is the third time in a row that a short film by Royal Stag Barrel Select Large Short Films has won the Best Film award. Perfect short films such as ‘Chutney’ by JyothiKapur Das and ‘Juice’ by NeerajGhaywan have received the title previously.
