Dhamara : Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attends bhumi pujan (ground breaking ceremony) of Dhamara LNG Terminal project in Bhadrak . Work for Dhamra LNG terminal to start from December, pipelines for gas transportation to be laid in 13 districts says PNG Minister Dharemdra Pradhan.
Minister Pradhan said India is moving towards a Gas based economy but 50%of our Gas is still imported through terminals located in Gujarat & a small one in Maharashtra.
In eastern India, Dhamra will have the distinction of hosting the 1st LNG terminal, which will import Gas from countries like US & Qatar. He said hundreds of years ago,Odia traders sailed from Dhamra & brought prosperity to Odisha. Today, Odisha is a rich state, but it’s poverty has become a topic of discussion in the country & abroad. Dhamra LNG Terminal is a gift from Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give justice to Odia society & bring back the lost glory of Odisha.
Minister Pradhan said Dhamra LNG terminal is a step closer towards realizing the dream of Hon.PM of development of Eastern India,for overall growth of our nation. Minister Pradhan requested the State Government for all possible help to ensure smooth execution of the Terminal Infrastructure,for the benefit people of Odisha and their aspirational needs. Natural Gas from this LNG terminal will also be an important gas supply source to the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga ( Jagdishpur- Haldia -Bokaro- Dhamra Pipeline Project. It would also meet the gas requirements of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. refineries at Barauni in Bihar,Haldia in West Bengal & Paradip in Odisha, said Minister Pradhan.
This 5 MMTPA capacity LNG terminal is expected to be commissioned by 2020-21 at an estimated cost of Rs. 6,000 Cr and will be a a source of huge employment & investment opportunities to Odisha & Eastern India, along with access to clean fuel.
Dhamra will be a vital link in connecting Eastern India to the Gas infrastructure of the country & will also benefit neighboring countries added Minister Pradhan.
CM Naveen Patnaik had assured to attend Dhamra LNG terminal project Bhumi pujan but not aware why he skipped the event says Dharmendra Pradhan. CM Naveen Patnaik skipped Dhamara port LNG terminal bhumi pujan as the event was politicized, says BJD MP Pratap Deb.
