Bhubaneswar: The State Government spent a total of Rs 14,50,16,364 towards tourism promotion cost incurred by way of participation at various national and international level fairs and media advertisements in year 2016-17.
This was revealed from the information furnished by Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda in the State Assembly in response to a question of Congress MLA Naba Kishore Das on Friday. The above expenditure include Rs 1,30,90,569 spent for participation in international fairs.
The Minister further informed that the State Government had spent Rs 51,65,513 for holding road shows in other States in 2015-16. A total of 52,13,835 tourists, including 51,37,474 from other States and Union Territories and 76,361 from abroad, had visited the State in 2016, he said.
The Government has allocated funs of Rs 75.93 crore for tourism infrastructural development, the Minister said.
