Bhubaneswar: Eminent poet and Padma Bhushan award recipient Ramakanta Rath has been nominated for ‘Atibadi Jagannath Das Samman 2018’ by Odisha Sahitya Akademi for his illustrative contribution to Odia literature. This was informed by the Odisha Sahitya Akademi president Harihar Mishra.
The award will be presented to Rath and other writers at a special function to be organized by the akademi. The decision was taken in the executive council meeting of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi on Saturday.
Fifteen renowned writers including Rath will be conferred with the award, the most respectable honor to any litterateur by the academy, at a special function.
Rath, one of the most renowned modernist poets in the Odia literature, will be honoured with the prestigious award for his lifetime contribution to the Odia literature. The eminent poet had earlier received Sahitya Akademi Award for his poem Saptama Ritu. Besides, he was also conferred Sarala award for his work Sachitra Andhara in 1984. In 1992, he was conferred Saraswati award.
