Mumbai : Government of Odisha is participating in the 12th edition of Annapoorna – World of Food India, 2017 in Mumbai. The three day event, started on 14th September, 2017, was inaugurated by Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister, Ministry of Food Processing, Government of India. This is an annual event organized to showcase the vast opportunities available in the food processing sector in the country.
India being one of the fastest growing economies of the world is also the 2nd largest producer of fruits and vegetables. However, India is able to process only 10% of the total produce resulting in humungous wastage. Annapoorna-World of Food India, 2017 over the years has become a major platform for sourcing of materials, technical collaboration and finding new market for products, to propel the Food Processing Industries to great heights.
This edition is being attended by 250 participants which includes many European Countries who are interested to find market for their products and for sourcing products from India.
Four entrepreneurs selected by MSME Department, Government of Odisha are participating in the event. M/s Jay Bharat Spices (Pvt) Ltd. are exhibiting Spices, Pulses, Macaroni and other food products. M/s Kandhamal Apex Spices Association for Marketing (KASAM) is exhibiting organic spices such as Turmeric, Ginger Powder, Whole Mustard and Ragi Powder. M/s Gram Tarang Food (Pvt) Ltd. are exhibiting extracts from oils and oleoresins.
Odisha’s 1st Multi Product Mega Food Park at Rayagada is also being showcased, which will function as a hub for Food Processing Industry, in Odisha. The Seafood sector in Odisha is being represented by the Seafood Exporters Association of India, Odisha Region. Dr. K. Mishra, President and Shri R.P. Hota, General Secretary of the Association are participating in the event. Participation of Government of Odisha has been organized by OIEPO, Office of the Chief Resident Commissioner, Government of Odisha, New Delhi, supported by Departments of Industries, MSME and Fisheries & ARD, Government of Odisha.
