Paradip: A major fire accident occurred at the IOCL Paradip refinery here on Tuesday morning with billows of black smoke engulfing a substation of the FFC Unit.
A fire control van with a crew fought for three hours to douse the fire near plant gate no.1. The refinery officials were, however, tightlipped about the cause of the fire and also on losses to the plant.
Notably, on February 4, 2016, the first fire accident had occurred in the IOCL. As a result, the LPG processing plant and pipeline had been destroyed. And after 3days of the mishap, PM Narendra Modi had dedicated the refinery project to the nation on February 7.
It is alleged that due to negligence of the authorities, the fire mishap is occurring at regular intervals in the plant.
