Cuttack: The Odisha High Court on Friday issued notices to the Centre and the Odisha Government in connection with a PIL of the High Court Bar Association seeking a judicial inquiry into an alleged attempt by a team of CBI officials to raid the official quarter of a sitting High Court judge here at midnight of Tuesday.
A Division Bench headed by Chief Justice Vineet Saran, adjudicating the PIL filed by the Bar Association secretary, issued the notices and posted the matter to be taken up again after the Puja vacation.
Notices were also issued to the CBI and the State police, who are also made respondents in the writ. The petition has urged the High Court for a direction to the State Government for a judicial probe that should be headed either by retired judge of the Supreme Court or a sitting judge of the High Court.
